Welcome to the Chapel Loop located in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

This is definitely (so far) in my top 5 hikes of all time. In fact, I have decided to break up my pictures into a few different posts because I've done this hike a few times and have quite a few pictures from this area (mostly lots of fungi...).

The loop is about 10.4 miles and passes by two waterfalls (Mosquito Falls & Chapel Falls) and brings you very close to the edges of the sandstone cliffs. For those who like to backpack - there are two backcountry campgrounds which are located by Chapel Beach and Mosquito Beach which provide stunning views.

The trailhead starts at a large parking lot, but I forewarn you...it fills FAST. You may end up parking a mile or two up from the parking lot as this loop gets a lot of traffic (please be aware that not everyone follows the "No Parking" sign and it can get very sketchy and frustrating up there).

There is some uphill/downhill steep hills as well as rugged terrain, but overall it's a very easy hike. The board walks that are near the beach do have a bathroom, but go at your own risk as they are not cleaned often. However, it did look like there was construction for a new bathroom station last time we were were though.

Chapel Loop trail is one of my favorite trails in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore...but I have one more I'll be sharing.
